RIFLE SHOOTING.

CHRISTCHURCH DEFENCE CLUB. The Christchurch Defence Club's fifth competition was fired at Tai Tapu on Saturday. the ranges being 800 and 900yds. The results were very unsatisfactory to the various marksmen. Misses were plentiful owing to the baffling conditions ruling, with a strong head wind, which varied both in elevation and windage to tho extent of two to ten degrees. At W. J. Henry put on a good 28. while at 900yds R. Rundle notched a similar score. The latter ran out an easy winner with 55. including his handicap. The following were the scores;— SOO 900 yds. yds.. Hep. Tl.
