WEDDINGS.
GRUBB—RICE. The marriage took- place at Oakland, California, on October 17, at 8 p.m., of Aliss Jessie Rice, daughter of Mr John Rice, of Guy Street. Dannevirke, and Mr James Grubb, of Christchurch, and at one time resident in Dannevirke. The bride was gowned in white georgette with lace panels, and carried a bouquet of white roses and lilies of tho valley. She was attended by Aliss Jean M’Andrews as bridesmaid and the duties of best man were performed by Mr David Rosling, of Oakland. The nuptial vows were exchanged beneath a canopy of greenery and pink rosebuds. After the ceremony t-he happy couple left the house amid showers of confetti by motor for Wiliow Camp and Aluir Woods, California, where the honey moon was spent. Among those- present were five New Zealanders—Air Gillanders. secretary of the Y.M.C.A.. Oakland: Mr R.‘ Johnson. Taranaki: Aliss Smale, of Feilding ; Miss Wise, of -Auckland : and Mis.* K. Booth, sister of Airs R. Roako, of Dannevirke.
