RECORD CONSUMPTION OF WATER.
ASHBURTON FEELS THE HEAT. (Special to “ Star.”) v ASHBURTON, December 5. Ashburton consumed 518,000 gallons of water on Monday, a record. This is equivalent to 150 gallons’a head in the water area, overtaxing the percolation capacity of the pumping well. Garden hosing is now restricted to an hour in the mornings and an hour and a half in the evenings.
