GRAND PARADE.

There was a large crowd round the oval at 1.30 when the grand parade of prize winners was held. Every vantage pont was seized and there was not a hit of extra room to be had on the grand stand, where His Excellency the Governor-General watched. the parade from the Vice-Regal box. The parade was led by Mr R. NY. Lockhead, chairman of the Grounds Committee and the Caledonian Pipe band followed. The prize-winning cattle, horses and dogs, were marched once round the oval aud then were marshalled up in the centre of the ground facing the grand-stand. The various trade and private horse turnout also went the round, and were favourably commented upon by the crowd. Tho section for saddle cobs and ponies was judged this morning. In several of the classes in this section the entries were better than they wore at the last show, noticeably in the case of polo ponies. Mr H. S. S. Kyle’s Fireboy cam© first in the class for pony entires. Fireboy is five years old and is by Gav Gordon (imp.)—Firefly. He was'bred by Mr Kyle. Mr George Peter’s Little Jim came second. Little Jim was foaled in 1920 and is by Fireboy and dam Chum, lie was bred by Mr A. Hislop. Di. a bay mare belonging to Miss Dorothy Maginness, came first in the class for pony brood mares, defeating Mr Kyle’s Lady Mathias, an aged chestnut mare by Harvest-own Matador—Firefly. The pony championship was awarded to Mr Kyle’s Firefly, which came first in the class for ponies not over 13.2 hands. There were nine entries in the class for polo ponies, and the competition was good. Mr Jack Matson’s Antrim was awarded first place and Mr Denis Chapman came second and third with Poggand Rubina. Generally speaking all tho pony classes were well supported, and on the whole the quality was good. , keen competition resulting iu several sections.
