The clergy, however, are strongly adverse Co making statements ivgarding cures that ci-Tinot at once be verified. Voluntary declarations have been made, and cases I are to be inquired into by the clergy. An old lady who had been paralysed 1 tor years is reported to be able to walk and there are several cases of restored i sight and hearing. A remarkable case is one of an elderly woman who was deaf, and can now hear. The Rev W. Fancourt was well acquainted with her. Two cases are reported of recovery from infantile paralysis, and that of a woman who had lost the use of a hand. A miraculous case is that of a young man from Island Bay. The patient suffered from valvular disease of the heart from birth, ami neve lA»a curvature of the spine. He did not think he would survive the journey to the mission, hut he came away shewing wonderful improvement. and now is able to walk. His mother trusts that cure has been effected.
