OPOSSUM SKINS.
ALLOCATION OF LICENSE FEES. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, November G. The Government has decided that the revenue derived from license fees and royalties paid on the sale of opossum skins in New Zealand shall be devoted, half -to acclimatisation societies and Ira 1 f to the State Forest Service. In making the announcement the Hon R. F’f Bollard. Minister of Internal Affairs, stated that the do- ; oision as to the allocation of revenue j in equal proportions to acclimatisation ! societies and the State F'orest Service ! was come to some time ago, but since ! then the acclimatisation societies had I pressed for reversion to the old system J of allocating revenue, viz. two-thirds j to societies and the remaining one- j third to the State Forest Service, j “ Tho matter has. however.*' said Mr | Bollard, “ been most carefully considered. and the Government decided to affirm the decision already come to. ! From information placed before me it i seems clear that the amount of rej venue available will be largely in ex- : cess of the amount obtained last year, j Even at the reduced proportion accli- | matisation societies will in the majori ity of cases at least be receiving as much revenue, if not more, than that | received in past seasons.”
