WRITING COMPETITION.

FOR THIRD STANDARD. : The fourth writing competition promoted by the - " is for Third Standard pupils in Canterbury and Westland schools. The competitors are requested to write the following verse on ordinary writing or exercise book paper:— There was a jolly miller once Lived on the river Dee ; He worked and sang from morn till night No lark more blithe than he. Competitors should mark their entries " Writing competition." and send them to the Editor of the " Star." Entries must be received by Novem ber 10. its present competition is open to all Third Standard pupils in Canterbury and Westland schools. Prizes will be 10s, 5s and »s fid.
