A NEW INSCRIPTION.

FOR MEMORIAL BRIDGE. It was reported at last evening’s meeting of th© executive of the Returned Soldiers’ Association that the president and Mr H. J. Knight had waited on tho Bridge of Remembrance Committee and had conveyed to them the association’s proposals for the inscription on the Record Stone of the Memorial. A letter was received from the secretary of the Bridge of Remembrance Committee stating that after a conference with the association’s delegates the following motion was passed by the committee:—“That the inscription on the Record Stone lie altered to read .- Erected by the Citizens of Christchurch in grateful remembrance of Canterbury’s sacrifice, 1914-1919.” This amended inscription had been forwarded to the City Council for their approval, stated the letter. It was reported that the association had also forwarded its views regarding the inscription to the City Council for their consideration.
