ATHLETICS.
EIRWEE CLUB. The committee of the Kisrwee Amateur Athletic Club met on 'Saturday evening. There was a fair attendance, over which Air R. W. Wilson presided. A letter was read from the secretary of the Canterbury Centre oC the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, asking if the local club could arrange for an evening meeting, to be held about the third Thursday in November, at which a number of members of the Christchurch clubs would compete. It was decided to hold o. meeting on the fourth Thursday in November, if suitable to the Canterbury Centrrc. with four events—loo yards, BSO yards, long jump and hop. Btep and jump. Tlie secretary was instructed to ask the centre if it would be possible to bring Mr M’Holm, so that he could give the local men a few hints on discus throwing. The following were appointed Judges:— Messrs W. B. Rout. K. Murchison and R. W. Wilson. Mr G. Dennis offered a tailored suit of clothes for a surprise packet or lucky ticket. The offer was accepted with thanks, and it was left till next meeting to arrange how it would he allotted. Mr Dennis was elected a vice-presidout of the club. The programme for the remainder of the
