AMBULANCE PARTY INJURED.

MOTOR CAPSIZES. (Special to e: Star.”) TIMARU, October 22. One of the cars, which participated in the motor run yesterday, -when the visiting St John Ambulance people were taken round the district, came to grief near Cave, with the result that four of the five occupants were more or less badly injured. The accident took place on a hill about half a mile from the main road near Cave. The driver and owner of the car was Air H. M. Stonyer. While negotiating a hill the .back wheels skidded. This slewed the car round and it capsized in a small ditch by the roadside. Fortuiaately the hood of the car was up and this saved the occupants of the car from more serious injuries than those which they sustained, and the car was travelling very slowly. The passengers were pinned under the car. The machine following it was soon on the scetne. In it were Messrs C. Hooper and P. Tutty, members of the Timaru Division of the Ambulance Association and they got to work, righted the car, and rendered first aid. Those injured were:— Mrs Rawstorn, broken collar-bone, I shock and, it is thought, slight j internal injuries. Miss Rawstorn, bruised and badly shaken. Miss D. Fenton, nose badly skinned. Miss Goldsmith, bruised and suffering from shock. Mr Stonyer, slightTy injured leg. Mr W. Smith, district superintendent, also came on the scene and supervised the work of 1 relieving the sufferMiss Fenton and Miss Goldsmith recovered from the shock of the accident in a little while and elected to proceed with another car and finished the journey. Mrs Rawstorn and Miss Rawstorn were brought back to Timaru by another car and received medical attention, Miss Fussell, another member of the local association coming back with them. The car was not badly damaged and Mr Stonyer was able to drive it back to town. Inquiries to-day elicited the information that all the victims were progressing well, and with the exception of Mrs Rawstorn were able to be about as usual. All those in the car belonged to Timaru.
