The big newspaper combine continues to he tho absorbing topic in Fleet Street. It is now stated that Huh ton's, since their acquisition by the “Daily Mail” for £16,000,000. * have urc*based out of their cash assets the Scottish newspapers at present r<jn trolled by Lord. Rotherm<*ro. These newspapers will be Sold to the Associated Scotish Newspapers Limited, -v new company which is about to be registered. with a capital of £900.000. Then that company will sell them for £] ,000,000 to JTulton’s. (There have been' several important changes in the ownership sof English journals this month. Tt was recently cabled that- Lord Rothermere (a brother of Lord representing the “Daily Mail ” Company, had acquired a number of .journals from the Hulton Trust. Among the papers acquired were the “Evening Standard,” “Daily Sketch” and “Sunday Henaid.” published in London, and al*o several Manchester dailies and weeklies. Tt was also authoritatively stated that Lord Beaverbrook had purchased the “ Pall MaTl Gazette.” which would be absorbed in the “ Evening Standard.” Tho “Daily Express ” announced that Lord Beaverbrook had not parted with his controlling interest in that journal and had no intention of doing so. The “Daily Express ” would not form a part of any trust or combination )
