OVERNIGHT SUMMARY. A collection by the Eaiapoi branch of the Plunket Society netted £23. The street stall conducted in Ashburton on Friday, in aid of the British and Foreign Sailors’ Society produced approximately £36. On Friday evening, the sixty-third anniversary of the Royal Rangiora Rcdge ol Oddfellows was celebvated with a social gathering. Mr 11. Foster, lecturer and writer on New Zealand subjects, gave one of his interesting lantern lecture in the Institute Hall. Rangiora. entitled “A Trip Through tho Rohe Potae Country.” The North Canterbury Gun Club closed its season on Saturday with four events, the principal .one being the clay bird championship, which was won by J. Simpson. The glorious weather of yesterday attracted train loads of pleasure seekers to Lyttelton from the city. Diamond Harbour and Corsair Bay were well patronised. In future no lion cubs will be sold from the Newtown Zoo to showmen to be trained for public performances, a resolution to this effect having been carried by the Wellington City Council. At a meeting of the Temuka Domain Board the chairman explained that offers had been made to provide a paddling pool, two &ee-saws and two swings. It was decided to lay out a portiou of the Bomian for a children’s playground. A collision occurred late last night between two motor cars at the corner of Armagh and Colombo Street®.
