SHIPPING TO NEW ZEALAND.

SERVICE SATISFACTORY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received October 22, 9.40 a m-; LONDON. October 21. At the Conference, during the discussion on Sir Halford Mackinder’s statement, Mr Massey mentioned the work that was being -done by the New Zealand Meat Export Control Board, whose business was to look after freights reduction. He said that _he thought, on the whole, that the New Zealand shipping service was satisfactory, especially as shipping was at present passing through a transition stage, but" he would be glad if they could speed up the transit of mails. He was sceptical of airships, being doubtful whether they would be sufficiently strongly constructed to withstand the storms in different parts of the world. In regard to the payment of income tax, said Mr Massey, he stood by the principle that the tax should be paid on income where it was earned. It would also be a fine thing if double income tax could be abolished.
