DAYLIGHT BAKING.

OPPOSED BY CARTERS. ULTIMATUM ISSUED. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received October 15, 11.45 a.in.) SYDNEY, October 15. Since night baking was abolished the bread carters have been compelled to finish their runs late in the evening in consequence of the delayed time of starting. The union, for months past, has been endeavouring to secure a partial return to night baking or other arrangements to enable carters to finish earlier. Tlae employers are also dissatisfied with day baking, ns it entails delay in deliveries till the bread is baked, or else necessitates the runs being commenced with the previous day’s bread. The operatives, backed by the Arbitration Court award, have resolutely refused to give way on the issue. The bread carters have now issued an ultimatum that they will refuse customers from October 27 after five o’clock. The chairman of the meeting explained that the ultimatum meant that if carters were in the middle of their rounds at. five they will take the bread back to the shops.
