“INCIDENT NOW CLOSED.”

CHOIR MAKES AN APOLOGY (Special to the “ Star.”) WANGANUI. October 12. Before his departure for "Wellington to-day Mr Temple White was met at the railway station bv a number of members of the Baptist Choir, who tendered to him an apology for the actions of their conductor. Mr H. Reynolds, a member of the executive, said: “ As officers of the Wanganui Baptist Choir we do not wish you to leave Wanganui under the impression that our conductor, at his interview with you yesterday, represented the choir as a- body. His conversation with you was as an individual, and we were greatly surrpised at your announcement made at last evening’s demonstration concert. We assure you it was no wish of the choir that our conductor interviewed you i»j this connection. We were perfectly happy about the decision given by you and congratulate the winners. We have every confidence in you as a musical adjudicator.” Mr White, in reply, said that it gave him much pleasure to accept the apology in the spirit i.t had been given. He hoped that the choir would continue top ract-ice and that it would be heard of again in future contests. A young lady remarked that members did not feel like continuing after the unpleasant incident. \

Mr White smilinglv encouraged the young lady to enter into choir work with renewed energv and assured her that, as far as lie was concerned, the incident was now closed.
