In connection with the jxala to be held at Ashburton on Labour Pay* which is being promoted by the Advance Ashburton Association, a compete history- of the town of Ashburton has been prepared by the Canterbury Progress League for incorporation in the programme for th© day. Inquiries* have been made with the object of arranging a .spec ial excursion train from Christchurch to Ashburton, but in view of the guarantee required, the proposal has been abandoned, and the ordinary train service will be utilised.For the return journey, however, it is proposed to delay the departure of the train till 5 p.m.
