ST MAH TINS VALLEY CLUB. Tho offioial opening; oi the St Martins Valley Tennis Club took place on Saturday. Notwithstanding: tho wet afternoon, there was a largo attendance. Mr Turnbull, a. 'vice-president, in hie remark*, referred tu the sound financial position, and the bright future of the club, and congratulated tiie committee on their enterprise in laying down a second court. Ho regretted, however, the insufficiency of playing members, and asked every member present to make a serious effort to introduce new members. During the interval for afternoon tea the Goddard Cup was presented to the winner, Master A. Goddard. Tho programme cf matches arranged between teams picked by the president and vice-presidents had to he postponed on account of the weather.
