UNITED SWIMMING CLUB.

ANNUAL SOCIAL. A largo number of members and friends assembled in the Ridgley Hall on Thursday night, when the United Amateur Swimming Club hold its annual social ami prize-giving. A very capable committee was comprised of the following: Mesdames Sillies, Smith, Meikle, Wheelev, Agassiz, Cooke, White, 12-stall, and Mr E. Brandeis. Numerous games were played and thoroughly enjoyed by the old asSvell as the young. Mr Ford, who presented the prizes, apologised on behalf of Mr Herbert, the patron, and Mr Wilkinson, the president of the club, for their inability to attend. Mr 11. B. Wheeley again retains the Ballin Cup for the men’s championship, and Miss M. Simes is again to be congratulated in holding the Baker Cup for the ladies’ championship. Mr I C. W. Smith, captain of the junior water polo team, was presented with the Bailey Cup, which the. club were successful in winning. Rita Wilkinson and Gavin Malcolmson were the winners of the President's Cups, presented by Mr A. L. Wilkinson for junior championships. The following were presented with prizes;—Miss Dickinson, Ooppleston, Cooke and Turgis, and Messrs Smith, Simpson. Champion, Turgis and Malcolmson. An enjoyable supper, and dancing, , including novelty dances, brought tho evening to an end-
