In the final of the amateur golf championship Wethered defeated Harris, seven up and six to play. The final was characterised bv dazzling play, 'Wethered completely outclassing Harris by a display which experts regard as the best seen in the finals. His putting and approaching were specially good. He was four up at the end of the first round of eighteen. taking seventy-three against Harris’s seventy-seven. "Wethered was six up at the ninth hole in the second round. The tenth was halved in four. Harris lost the next, and Wethered was dormy seven. The twelfth was halved, both taking five, and the championship therefore went to Wethered. Considering the terrible conditions which prevailed, there being a strong wind, rain, hail, and sleet, the exhibition was brilliant.
