POLICE HOPEFUL.
ROBBERY THEORY PROVED By Telegraph—Press Association—Copj sh* Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received May 12, 11.45 p.m.) 1 LONDON, May 11. Scotland Yard believes that it has obtained an important clue to the taxi cab murderA woman gave a detailed description of a man and also pointed out a picture from a collection of well-known criminals shown to her by the police, bearing a striking resemblance. She explains that he called at her home and asked to be allowed to go through into the street at the back. She obtained a good view of him under the light. He did not appear to be agitated. The theory that the men were burglars is strengthened by the discovery of an attempt made to enter a house near the spot before the murder. Jemmy marks on the door corresponded with the jemmy found in the taxi-cab. The police are hopeful of making an early arrest.
