He was a man of science, with a great deid of originality, and he had built up a reputation in that direction, as well as m the world of teaching. He had given willing help to the W.E.A. and other educational work outside the university. Professor R. Speight, treasurer of the presentation fund, said that letters he had received from other countries testified to the widespread affection in which Mi- Page was held by students who had attended lectures in chemistry at the college. Sir Ernest Rutherford had written: “I always considered Mr Page a man of unusual energy and capacity.” (Applause.) Mr T. W. Rowe said that Mr Page was a man of absolute simplicity and sincerity of character. Mr G. T. Booth, a member Board of Governors of the college, said that many persons were indebted to Mr Page for kindnesses. He was a botanist, and the seeds he sowed at the college had developed with healthy shrubs and trees. Mr Page, replying, said that be was deeply grateful for the kind remarks made by the speakers, and for the present. Cheers were given for Mr and Mrs Page, and those present sang “ For They are Jolly Good Fellows.”
