SUMMARY OF YESTERDAY’S SALE.

The dislocation of t-bo railway services in Canterbury caused no diminution iu the entries of fat cattle and fat sheep at the Addington yards yesterday, and, instead of famine prices ruling for beef a.end mutton, values were actually lower than those of \ week ago. Some old cow beef sold as low as 12s 6d. Eleven races of fat sheep were forward, a larged entry than has been seen a.t Addingt-on for some weeks. There were h large number of sheep from South Canterbury, *©*vt. forward no doubt in anticipation of a short yarding and high prices. Six extra prime wet-hers. sold on behalf of a Timaru client, matte 40s 3d, top price for the sale, and twenty of the attme draft mad© 40s Id. A good draft of 204 wethers were sold on behalf of Mr H. Ekaymo-nd (Chatham Islands). These sheep were suffering from the effects of a rough voyage but still 32 made 375, 20 3fis fid and 93 33s fkl. Top ©w© prtee, 36s 3d. was secured by Mr D. Grant (Timaru) for the tops of a draft of 59. Prime wethers, 30* to 335. Medium wethers. 27s 6d te 29s 6d. Light wethers, 24s to 27*. Extra prime ewes, 32* t,o 345. a few special to 363 Sd. Prime ewes. 25s 6d to 295. Medium ewas, 22b 6d to Qss. Light Hives, 10b to 22#. Old ewes, ]4s 6d to 18s. DAIRY CATTLE. V alues— Good second, third and fourth calvere £6 to £ll 10b; extra good to £l4. Good springing heifers £5 to £lO 10s.
