SIR WILLIAM ROBERTSON NICOLL. By T#le*raph—Prea a Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Gab!* Association. LONDON, May 6. The death is announced of Sir William Robertson Nicoll. Sir William Robertson Nicoll, M.A., LL.D. (Aberdeen and St Andrew’s) was born at Lumsden, Aberdeenshire, on October 10, 1851. He was educated at the Aberdeen Grammar School and Aberdeen University. He graduated M.A. in 1870 and LL.D. in 1890. Ho was editor of the 4 British Weekly ” since 1886, the “Bookman” since 1891, and the “Expositor” since 1885. Amongst his publications are * ; Literary Anecdotes of the Nineteenth Centurv.” in 1895; “Life of. Janies M'Do well," in 1890; “The Incarnate •Saviour.” “The Key of the Grave. *• Songs of Rest ” (series 1 and 2), • ‘ The Return to the Gross,” “Sunday Afternoon Verses.in 1897; “ Letters on Life.” “ The Church’s One Foundation.” in 1901; “ The Lamp of Sacrifice.’ in 1906: “My Father ” and “The Life of lan Maolaren.” in 1908; “The Round of the Clock,” in 1910; “A Bookman’s Letters,” in 1913; “Reunion in Eternity,” in 1918: and “Princes of the Church,” in 1921. He was editor of “The Expositor’s Greek Testament ” and of numerous theological works.
