Minimum thermometer on grass—39.6. Wind—S.W.. light. Cloud (0-10)—JO. Rainfall—O.SOOin. Rainfall to date this year—-11.625in. Rainfall to date last year 6.239 in. NOON READINGS. Barometer—29.Bl9, almost steady. Temperature—43.3. Wind—S.W. Cloud (9-10)—10. “ STAR ” SPECIAL FORECAST. The forecast of weather conditions which may be expected to prerail during; a period of twentyfour hours from 2.30 p.m. daily. CANTERBURY FORECAST. Wind—Southerly, moderate to strong. Weather—Continue cold, with further rain. Hail at times. Snow in back country. F. L. WOOLES. GOVERNMENT FORECAST. The indications are for :—- Wind—Variable and strong breezes, but southerly strong to gale prerailing. Weather—Cloudy to overcast, rain probable and snow on high country. Rivers rising and weather will probably become colder. Barometer—Rising soon.

HALF AN INCH OF RAIN.

The weather in Christchurch to-day was again wet and was colder than yesterday. East night there were several heavy showers of rain. This morning rain fell at intervals, a light wind blowing from the south-west. At 12.30 p.m. there was no rain falling, but the weather did not show much sign of clearing for the week-end. Between 9.30 a.m. yesterday and 9.30 a.m. today half an inch of rain was recorded at the Observatory. The weather interfered with most outdoor sports, but Rugby "Cnion football matches were played.
