Mr F. V. Sanderson (Wellington) arrived in Christchurch this morning. T ’ • staying at the United Service Hotel. Messrs *l. Minto (Sydney) and J. Wallings (Melbourne) are amongst the guests at Warner’s Hotel. Mr H. Hinc, the retiring Mayor of Te Ivuiti. is in Christchurch on a brief holiday visit. The Great Eastern Fair undertaken bv the Avonsido Parish will he opened at 3 o’clock to-morrow in the King Edward Barrack-?, where sixteen stalls, gay with various colours, will display their goods for sale. Special co«tumes will be worn by the helpers at each stall. There will be special amusements and competitions, with post entries.
