CONCERT HALL LOAN.

POLL MAY BE UPSET. It was stated yesterday with some confidence that the Municipal Concert Chamber poll is very likely to be upset. The totals, as announced at the central booth on Thursday evening, were For the proposal 5624; against 5512 ■ informal 1099 ; hut a recount has still to be conducted. During the recount, it is possible that many votes admitted as valid by the Deputy Returning Officers will be ruled out of order. It is fairly certain that a number of Deputy Returning Officers were themselves misled by the fact that three systems of voting were employed and that they passed, as valid, concert chamber loan ballot papers which had been marked with a cross instead of with a ruled-out line. It is suggested ir. some quarters that when the recount is made and all the invalid papers thrown out the result will be the defeat o': the loan proposal. There is a belief that at more than one booth persons not entitled to vote on the loan proposal were given ballotpapers.
