Eight men were kiiled outright and two died of injuries in the Trimsaran accident. The under manager was among those killed. A boy of fourteen who had been in the pit only n few days was also killed. While a hundred and twenty men v/ere being taken to the surface of the Trimsaran colliery, near Llanelly, in trams, a shackle broke and the tram ran back to the bottom of the drift.
