EDUCATIONAL.
HON. C. J. PARR’S VISIT. An inspection of the new community hall at Redeliffs wa-s made by the Minister of Education (the Hon C. J. Parr) this morning. Mr Parr was accompanied by Mr W. E. Spencer, officer in charge of school buildings, and Mr J. M’Combs, M.P. The Minister congratulated the committee on their very line work and on the excellent hall which had been erected as the result oi their efforts. The people’s contribution to the hall was £4OO and the Education Department granted about £6OO. After visiting Sumner on educational business the Minister proceeded to the Opawa School. Representations were made to the Minister that in the interests of th-i children the old school should be pulled down and the new school completed *■ as to accommodate the infants’ class, thus facilitating the work of the staff. It vas stated that portions of the old school had been erected over forty years ago. Mr Parr said he would meet representatives of the School Committee an i Messrs H. T. Armstrong, D. G. Sullivan and J. M’Combs. M.P.’s. to discuss the matter at- 9.15 a.m. to-nior-Subseqnently. .Mi- Barr inspected the Opawa and Phillipsto-wn Schools. At Opawa lack of accommodation was pointed out to him. A deputation will wait on the Minister in connection with this matter to-morrow morning, when Messrs I>. G. Sullivan, H. T Armstrong, and J. M’Combs, members °f Parliament, v.ill stress the need for After receiving the Opawa deputation to-morrow. Mr Parr will visit the Addington and Now Brighton Schools.
