The death is announced ol : Mr Charles Crump, vice-president of the Football Association, after witnessing Saturday’s international match at Glasgow. MR H. J. BATHGATE. (Per Press Association.) 'INVERCARGILL, April 16. Herbert James Bathgate, Superintendent of the Borstal Institute, was found dead in bed this morning. He was a bachelor, aged sixty-three, and was formerly in the employ of the Education Department, and did valuable work as supervisor at the Burnham Industrial School. After Burnham closed, he was transferred to Wellington in the Education Department, and in April, 1920, to Invercargill ah superintendent. His worx at Invercargill was spoken of highly. Tie took a great interest in his charges and was always striving to improve their social and physical conditions.
