AUCKLAND’S WATER SUPPLY.

POWER SCHEME TO FOLLOW (Pir.n Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 16. The Hon J. G. Coates attended the opening of the Nihotapu Dam, extending the City water supply, aud giving p storage of 540.000.000 gallons, equal to the demand for the next ten years. Mr Coates stated that it had been definitely decided to continue the Ara puni scheme. The Government meant to fulfil their contracts for the supply of power in 1923. Plans and specifications had already been printed, and had been sent overseas. A commission oi engineers had declared the scheme perfectly safe, and it was expected that four or five large firms would tender for the construction of the dam and head works.
