GARDEN FETE. fine weather, a calm sea and the opportunity offering of inspecting Mr Orteu Brandley’s beautiful garden and grounds attracted a very large crowd from Christchurch. Lyttelton and the surrounding bays to the garden fete held on .Saturday afternoon in aid of the renovation fund tor St Outhbert’s Church Governor’s Bar. The secretary (-Mr Carpenter) stated late in the afternoon that the receipts were ver\ that the’visitors from the"' Pvt triton side of the harbour could make but a short stay on account of the tide. The produce <dall did a very brisk businesb this stall being particularly well supplied with produce sent in from tin different bays.
