INCIDENTS ON VOYAGE TO DOMINION.
DORSET AND TAINUI ARRIVE. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON. April 16. The Dorset and Tainui arrived today from Southampton with 20t5 and 196 immigrants respectively. After leaving the English Channel the Dorset experienced heavy weather for ten days. o*n the night of February 23 a violent cyclonic hurricane was encountered. At times it attained a velocity of over 100 miles ail Hour, and seas swept clean ever the deck and boat deck, carrying away screens and fifty feet of railing. The i esse! was practically hove-to fo-r three days, and. on February 24 she logged only forty-four miles. After passing the Azores favourable weather was exnerienced for the remainder of the The Tainui left Southampton a fortnight later. When, three days out from Balboa the vessel frighted the schooner Napo, fiying distress signals. She reported that her provisions bad gone had, and that she had on board thirty-six souls, including the passengers and crew of another small sailing vessel which had been wrecked on the Galapagos Islands. The Tainui sent ample provisions to carry the Napo to her destination.
