SEASONABLE HINTS.

The feathers will begin to fall nun - . Clean them up as far as possible, otherwise the* birds may become tea.aer eaters. Don' l, forge u that a. little chopped-up anion is a grand salad for fowls, as -lie »i:i ot laying is very heavy on -lie system of young birds as well as ilder birds. Glean out all the water vessels at .east twice a week. Avoid using the hands; use a special brush, and the vessel with the disinfeeta.nl should be used for that purpose only. Colour the drinking water with permanganate crystals, or place a camphor bail (tied in a piece of muslin) in it, and keep in the shade. All those wanting stock birds or dayold. chicks from the bulk of stud breeders should make early application. Make a note oi the length of the moult in the hens ; if longer than six weeks the strain on your feeding is wrong. Does the cock or cockerel hare his favourite in the breeding (>•'*•Very oftcri_ and generally the hatching from the favourite is poor, as the bird is I over-fertilised, li’ a hen is continually | neglected it ib better to remove the female to another pen and try another i mating. i ICe-ep the shell grit boxes well filled, j Oharcoal is a good purifier.
