BODY IN HARBOUR.
STRANGE CIRCUMSTANCES OF DEATH. HAT FOUND ON WHARF. The ( body of a water.sider named Timothy Iveohane, aged forty-five, an ex-seaman, who had Jived in Lyttelton lor about four years, was found floating in the harbour between No G and Xo 7 wharves this morning at about 8.30. Captain Walter Scott, of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company, intormed the police by telephone of the discovery. The case is a somewhat peculiar one as Iveohane was last seen late last night by some of his friends, when it is said he intended to join the Waihemo. He was- also seen earlier in the evening by other seamen who say that he was then in. a normal condition. W hen taken out of the water this morning by Constables Hodgen. Mannix and Baynes, the body was still j limp, which proved that it could net I have been in the water long;. A peculiar part of the incident is the fact that the body was found floating. There were- no marks of violence cn the body. A felt lint and attache case belonging to Iveohane were found cn the wharf. An inquest will be opened this afternoon .
