A CANADIAN ORDER. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. OTTAWA, April 11. A telegram from Victoria (8.C.) states that the collectors at British Columbia ports, pursuant to an order from Ottawa, have refused to grant clearance papers to deep-sea vessels carrying liquor cargoes. NEW YORK, April 11. The United States has replied to the Canadian protest regarding shipping, refusing to withdraw the contract provision complained of. "f he United States authorities made a provision in the contract for the sale of American ships to Canada, that these should not be employed for the conveyance of liquor- The Canadian Government, objected to this provision, as an infringment of international law.
