Messrs J. Yl’Combs. M.l’.. and H. 1. Armstrong. M.P.. telegraphed yestevrday to the Hon G. J. Parr. Minister <>(’ Education, strongly urging upon him that in view of the badly dilapidated condition of the old Opawa public school, he should immediately authorise additions to the new school capable of housing all the children. Arrangements have been made for Messrs M’Combs ami Armstrong to meet the Minister on lr.s return to Christchurch from the south. Mi A- R. Blackwood, who leaves Lake Coleridge to take up a position at,Mangahao, was fa rebelled by members of the Canterbury Branch of the New' Zealand Electrical Contractors’ Association this week and was presented with a handsome silver tea service and a travelling case.
