The Canterbury Trades and Labour Council has decided, to be represented at the conference to be held in Wei lington to discuss alterations to the apprenticeship system of the Dominion, and Mr C. Renn has been appointed as its delegate. The conference, which will commence on April 26. has been convened by the Minister of Labour (the Hon G. J. Anderson), and repre sentatives of employers and of the Trades and Labour Council of Welling ton, Auckland. Dunedin and Christchurch will be present. The business of the conference will mainly be to deal with suggested alterations to the present- laws governing apprenticeship. A farewell social evening was given in the Feudal ton Public School last evening to Mr C. Bell, club captain of the Fendalton Amateur Swimming Club, who is about to leaye on a six months’ holiday in England. Mawson Stewart, made a nresentation to Mr Bell and also one for hi* wife.
