David Kelly, alias O’Keefe, w as committed lor trial on a charge ol murdering Airs Overall as Millgrove, rTear ! V. arburton, in June of last year. Kelly, according to his con- : lession. thereupon became frightened. \ and burned her body in a paddock. Ho j threw* her ashes in the river Yarra. He j informed inquirers that he had bought j the property for £IOOO. The woman | had gone away, lie knew not where. 1 AY hen first interrogated by the police, j Kelly told them that he got no receipts j .for the purchase. Later he produced i two for £SOO each, signed by Airs Over- j all. but he subsequently stated that he ! had forged Airs Overall’s signature. The police found pieces of charred bones in the river, and also traces ! where the body allegedly was bYirned. ; The police also tendered further evid- ! ence that Kelly, under the name of O’Keefe, li%*ed with a woman named j Mary M’Grath in the Bacchus Marsh district prior to boarding with Airs : Overall. AUGrath suddenly disap- j peared, and had uot since been heard of. When questioned regarding AUGratli, > Kelly said: “You don’t want to rake that up against me now.”*
