After a three months’ struggle ill an ice-ridden region in mid-Atlantic, the crew cf the British ship Rita .Vi. Cluett have been brought to Plymouth. They narrate a remarkable story ol a light with storms and cold and hunger on a terrible voyage from Oporto. When nearing St Johns the ship was driven back bv a gale through numbers of huge icebergs. The crew of five, who were already suffering, were now in desperate straits, having practically no food, while their only water was melted snow. Their lives were saved by the jiort wine and brandy carried for medicinal purposes- " With her rudder smashed, her sails blown away, and her lifeboat useless the ship drifted into the- track of shipping. where the crew were rescued by the liner President Filniore when the last hope was goneThe men were landed at Plymouth tn a condition. One of tnem weighed eighty pounds instead of his normal 1601 b.
