A FRIENDLY TONE.
TEXT OF ANGORA NOTE. ATTITUDE OF TURKEY. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received April 30, 11.55 a.m.) LONDON, April 9. The Constantinople correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” states the An gora Note expresses satisfaction with the Allies’ readiness to discuss counterproposals, which, the Turks maintain, contain no substantial modification of territorial stipulations which the Allies oould not admit. It expresses surprise that the Powers d/esire to reopen discussion on judicial capitulations which the Turks consider have been already settled. The Note maintains that the text inserted in the Turkish counter-propo-sals is not really the Turkish proposals, but the result of the efforts of the Allied and Turkish delegates at Lausanne. Turkey, fully appreciating the Allies’ desire to settle favourably outstanding economic questions, is not opposed to discussing points which can regularly form the subject of international negotiations. The Note concludes with a promise that the Turkish delegates will be at Lausanne on April 23.
