The Ngahere, after discharging a con■trament of 6heep, was dispatched for Welliagton yesterday afternoon. The Eamona is expected to sail for Greymouth at 3 p.m. this afternoon. She leads for Wellington at the West Coast port. The Waikouaiti will not sail for Sydney, ria Trqiaru and Oamaru. until April 12. The Kurow, which is due here on April 0 from Hobart, proceeds from Lyttelton to Ihmqjin, and thence proceeds to Port Chalmers to undergo survey. The Katoa should arrive here on Tuesday from Auckland, via Wellington. The vessel is expected to sail the game evening for Dunedin, Oamaru and Timaru. The Wingatui »a« dispatched from Lyttelton yesterday at midday for Dunedin. ®be is expected back on April iu to load for Napier, Gisborne and AuokWsatmeath arrived from Wellington this morning to discharge West of England cargo. Information has been received by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Co. that the Raranga, which ■- was expected at Lyttelton to-morrow, will not arrive until about a fortnight's time. One of the reasons for the conversion of the Ormonde to oil burning is the fact that the Orient Company has now under construction two 20,000-ton oil-burning steamers which will represent the latest things as far as the Australian mail service is conoerned in regard to speed and the comfort of pas--11 is .in connection with the possibilities of being able to offer a considerably accelerated servioe when the two new steamers enter the trade that the Orient Company decided to convert the Ormonde, it being anticipated that an appreciate increase in speed will result. If antiofpations prove correct it might then be possible for Australia to secure a- faster service if other steamers of the line are found capable of similar conversion.
