BANQUET IN CHORAL HALL
AVELCOAIE TO AiISS BLACK. The Choral Hall presented an unusual appearance last evening when t was transformed, into a banqueting hail on the occasion of the Y.W.C.A.'s we! come to Aliss Marjorie Black, who is i on a visit to New Zealand. Aliss Black is i in charge of the Y.AY.C.A. Girls’ Work Department in Australia and New Zealand. and has just returned from Wellington. where she attended the Do i minion conference, of which she was The hall was set with a number of long tables, prettily decorated with roses, around which were grouped the | young members of the Christchurch branch. Miss Black took the place of honour in a gaily-decorated chair at the head table, where also were Mrs George Bowron (president) and Aliss Ethel Law (secretary). A number of toasts were propose! and drunk with musical honours. Aliss Black received mam- delightful presents, and thanked the girls for their welcome, asked them to consider the advisability of changing the various names of the circles in the different New Zealand centres to one common title, for preference to that of Girl Citizens. which prevails throughout Australia. Upon putting it to the vote a motion. “That they should all be Girl Citizens.” was carried. Aliss Blackthen outlined the new* scheme of work
