TO-DAY’S CASES. CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M.) DRTJ NKENNESS. .Tames Alahoney, for liis third offence, was sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment. For a breach of his prohibition order he was fined 40s, in default seven days. HIS ONLY CRIME.

Charles Franklin Lee, aged sixtyeight, pleaded guilty to a charge of being a rogue and vagabond, in that he had no visible lawful means of support. Senior-Detective T. Gibson said that the accused gave himself up at the Police Station last night, saying that he had no money and no home to go to The ATagistrate: His only crime is that he is old and has no home. The accused was remanded to appear on Tuesday. GIVEN A CHANCE Lawson Frederick Bradding. aged nineteen, appeared for sentence on two charges of indecently exposing himself in a public place. Air J. B. Batchelor, who appeared on his behalf - , asked that accused should be admitted to probation. There were , tjo indications that the accused was abnormal and his offence was but an isolated lapse. He was a good worker, and one of his previous employers had expressed a willingness to re-engage him. The ATagistrate said that the accused was very young and there was hope for him. Accused would he admitted to probation for three years, special conditions being that the Probation Officer should approve of his amusements and the hours he kept. He would also he ordered to become a member of a gymnasium class. SUNDAY TRADING. .Tames Gould and Walter Prince, for selling cigarettes on Sunday, were each fined 20s and costs. BY-LAW CASES. Andrew Price was ordered to pay costs for having no identification mark on his motor-cycle. William Henry, for allowing horses to wander, was fined 20s, Herbert Drewitt, for cutting a corner, was fined 20s. Agnes Nicholls was fined 5s for leaving a motor-car unattended. David Burnard and D. Rutledge were eac h fined 10s for cycling without lights. On a similar charge, Richard Bolsta 1 was ordered to pay costs. Frederick AY. Taylor was fined os for cycling on the footpath. Leonard Blogg. for leaving his car unattended and unliglited, was fined 10s. Charles E. Kav was fined os fox* leaving his car unattended. Gavin. A\ atson was fined 5s for pillion riding. Ethel May Nicholson was fined 10s for driving without a certificate of ability. The police said that the defendant had collided with two pedestrians when driving into a garage. O. Thornton, Horace Teigel, Norman Lawn, AA’illiam Dobbie and John A. A\ arm an were each fined 40s for speeding. Thomas Hillier. for leaving a car "»n tho wrong side of the road, was ordered to pay costs. Hugh Hamilton was fined 40s for speeding, and ordered to pay costs for driving an unregistered car. 7211 a Helmore was fined 40s and costa, for speeding. James Alexander Mitchell was fined 10s for cutting a corner. Arthur J. Oakley and Benjamin Berry, for failing to return their keys and badges as taxi drivers, were each fined 10s and costs. Arthur James Niven, on a charge of failing to return bis key. was fined ss. C. Wilson Mas ordered to pay costs, £2. for failing to pav his tram fare. T. Colbert, on a similar charge, was ordered to pay costs. £2 ss. DISMISSED. Ethel Scott and Raymond Scott, of 91. Southampton Street, were charged with having received a child for maintenance apart from its parents in consideration of payment without being licensed as foster-parents. Mr F. D. Sargent appeared for the defendants. It was proved that Ethel Scott still held a license, nliich was returned rn Miss C. 12. Blackwell, district agent fox* infant life protection. The license had not been cancelled. The information was dismissed, and the charge against Raymond Scott was withdrawn. TRUANCY. Airs F. A. Saggers was fined 2s, James AV. Salt £1 and Walter Blood 10for failing to send their children to school. OUT OF TURN. John O’Connell (Air C. S. Thomas') i proceeded against Albert Arthur Berrv I (Air A. R. Kirk) for taking up a posij tion on a carriers’ stand out of his turu. Berry was fined 20s, with costs £4 10s.
