HERR CUNO’S SPEECH.
NOT UNEXPECTED. By Telegraph— Prose Association—Copy rise Tit Australian anil X.Z. Cable Association. (Received March s . 11.00 a,tn.) PARIS. March 7. The Press regards Herr Cano's speech as nothing unexpected. The “‘Petit- Parisien ” .says: “it is as vain as it is belated.” Other newspapers consider that the chief feature is the indication that Germany. while protesting against pressure. seeks foreign intervention as a prelude to pourparlers, which may lead to relief from the present restraint, but they ask upon what country Herr Cuuo is -founding his hope of intervention. Tire 1 ‘ Kcho de Paris ” invite.s France to prepare for the pourparlers. France must remain irrevocable and fixed in her determination to effect reparations by the occupation of the Ruhr. When that policy is established, France till not refuse to consider the legitimate interests advanced by Downing Street.
