The police made the discovery of | <#>ugh lan’s burial place in the gully as lie result of a statement supplied by frank Bonfiglio. a former husband of \lannah Mitchell, alias Bonfiglio, in December last, v/hen lw!? was in hospital suffering from a gunshot wound allegedly inflicted by Hannah Mitchell luring a quarrel. The ponce also secured evidence that tlw> bodv was taken to the gully by .Bonfiglio and the three accused women. They obtained a: statement from Mr* Milward admitting that she assisted in removing the body. Three women, named Hannah Mitchell. Margaret Mitchell and Margaret Milward. were arrested, the first-named hargod with murdering, in November last,- a girl named Bertha Goughian and the other two charged with being rccessoriee after the tact. All were remanded. The police evidence showed that the girl Ljoughlan came to Melbourne from Omert to receive medical treatment-. She went’to the house of Nurse Mitchell. Next dav the nurse secured a car and allegedly took a body, supposed to he Gough lan's*, atul hid it itt n gully, forty-live miles from Melbourne. The police, acting on certain information received, discovered wherethe body had been, removed from the gully, but lost trace of it until Friday night, when they received a telephone call from a man stating that he had seen two men damping a big package trom the Anderson Street bridge into ihe Yarra. Dragging resulted in the discoverv of the body. At the time c? her arrest- Hannah Mitchell was out on bail in connection with a sensational shooting affair in December lust.
