LAVENDER PINCUSHIONS.
Lavender-fil'led pincushions are delightful for utilising any surplus lavender when the lavender harvest is cut. lo make them mix the dried lavender blossoms with equal parts of well-dried bran and stuff tightly into small bolster or cube-shaped cushions made of unbleached calico. Tiffs material should be first washed and dried to remove the objectionable smell, then covered with strong coloured linen and buttonholed v. ith lavender-coloured silk. Lavender bags of clear muslin, half (Vied with lavender, to place m drawers and between the folds of linen in the linen cupboard should be renewed each year. They look specially dainty and attractive if tied lightly round the middle with a narrow ribbon of pale pink or lavender, or of the two combined. Many people are weaving small cushion covers of coloured raffia, and filling them with lavender, a completing touch being provided by tassels of coloured raffia at each corner.
