President Harding is supporting the appropriation of sixty million dollars over a period of a year for the purpose of modernising American first line ships, providing longer rang© guns with greater elevation, bomb proof decks and Viister side construction against torpedoes. It is expected that Congress will appropriate the money, of which seven millions will be used for immediate construction in 1923.
