A MOTHER’S HEROISM.
CHILDREN RESCUED FROM FLAMES. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright United Service. (Received December 30, 10 a.m.) LONDON, December 29. A mother’s heroism was the most remarkable incident of a fire in Portsmouth. When the alarm was given she dropped her seven-year-old daughter from a window into the arms of the crowd, and then carried her three-year-old child into the street. She dashed back to rescue another, despite the fact that she was wearing only a dress which was on fire. Her hands and face were scorched by the flames, tehe seized her thirbeen-year-old boh,, struggled with him to the stairs, and collapsed, but was carried out by rescuers. Firemen penetrated the flames and found a crippled boy suffocated, and a little girl unconscious. The girl was carried out, and her first act was to kiss her rescuer.
