Moeraki, Arahura, Devon. Chatham Islands—Port Denison. ELECTRIC SHIPS. During the. past few years the development of electric ship propulsion has. through no fault of its own, received a serious check. Post-war conditions have meant an almost complete cessation of shipbuilding, and have, as a. natural corollarv discouraged the adoption of new ideas and methods. It. is. therefore, with something more than the usual satisfaction that “The Electrician ” chronicles tho news from New York that two or more electrically-driven liners 1000 ft long ana of 70,000 tons are to be built by a new American shipping company. It is stated that the- prime movers will be- Diesel engines, and that the general design wHi be that followed with some success of tlje latest American battleships.
NOTICE TO MARINERS.
