LAMBERT’S GOOD PLAY

(Special to the “ Star.”) \\ ANGANUI, December 22. Lambert, who made (58 and (53 against the Englishmen, should, in the opinion of the best judges here, hare been for the New Zealand team. His batting in both innings was remarkably sound, besides which he is a good change bowler and a fine field. It was unfortunate that Holland was unable to play on the second day owing to a severe injury to his side, sustained through ricking himself laet Saturday. This was aggravated by his bowling on the first day, when be sent- down a few overs against the Englishmen. Then lie had to ask to be taken off. His loss to the local team was very serious. He will lie unable to play in the Hawke Cup match against Hawke’s Bay next week.
